Pupil Premium

Westbrook Lane Primary School is provided with additional funding from the government to provide support for pupils from lower income families to ensure that they benefit from the same opportunities as all other children. This funding is called ‘Pupil Premium.’

There are three categories of children who qualify for this additional funding:

  • Children who are eligible for free school meals (please see below)
  • Children who are ‘Looked After’.
  • Children whose parents are in the armed forces.

Children are entitled to free school meals if their parents, carers or guardians receive:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

We would encourage all families who feel they may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, or free school meals to make the school aware, as not only does it support you in the health and care of your child, but it also supports their learning in school.

Please see the documents below to find out how school is using the money.
