At Westbrook, we follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised phonics programme to teach phonics and reading. Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised is a phonics programme which has been validated by the Department for Education. Please see the videos below for explanations of how the different sounds are taught. Throughout school, there are a wide range of age appropriate texts available for the children to access. Please see the following recommended reading lists for each year group; many of these texts are available to the children in classroom reading areas.

Each classroom also has a wide range of books for children including a selection of the best diverse and inclusive texts for primary children.
